The plan with this app was to:
- Provide call summaries at pay-as-you pricing, to get people in the door with novel functionality
- Once people started using the app, they’d see the included reporting dashboard that would allow them to see the value of a 3rd-party reporting dashboard
- This would get them to want to pay for advanced dashboard features.
That was the idea anyways, but it had a few issues:
- Pay-as-you-go pricing was either extremely expensive to the user, or extremely low profit for me.
- Nobody used the dashboard because it was on another website, and it wasn’t the main thing that people came to the app for.
- A “foot in the door” strategy might not be the best approach. At least within the same app.
